"All the world's a stage we pass through." - R. Ayana
In Australia, at least, a deed of title gives you the 'right to occupy' some Crown land - not to 'own' it! Even according to the common law, landholders are stewards and custodians with no right to degrade or despoil the Earth. The reality of responsibly passing something on to future generations is quite the opposite.
That the soils, trees and rivers are basically sold for the dead meat profiteers in this continent (and most others) should tell you something about the karma of eating sentient beings and raising the innocent to be slaughtered and devoured. It’s the responsibility of every person down the chain of death and destruction, all the way to the totally unnecessary plate of beef or lamb. If humans actually needed to eat meat all this pain and suffering might even make some sort of sense. As it stands, poison slowly fills the veins and brains of most humans as it suffuses the rivers and oceans, all for the fattening of the wallets and backsides of the merchants of death.
Land ‘ownership’ promotes the sort of mentality that creates slavery, sexism, wars, the patenting (and owning) of living beings - and money. Consider for a moment - where did all this ‘property’ come from in the first place – and from whom?
Have you ever heard the saying 'property is theft'? Ask the Kooris - theft is also theft!links: digg this del.icio.us technorati reddit
