US Alliance responsible for 9-11 million excess deaths in Iraq & Afghan Wars

As of the 65th Anniversary of VE Day (8 May 1945), the US Alliance (and German) War on Arab, Muslim, and Asian Women and Children is now responsible for 9-11 million excess deaths in Iraq (1990-2010) and Afghanistan (2003-2010).

The World has just celebrated the 65th anniversary of VE Day (Victory in Europe Day), the day on which Nazi Germany was finally defeated after about 35 million deaths in the European part of World War 2.

However the US took over when genocidal and racist German militarism stopped. I estimated in my book “Body Count. Global avoidable mortality since 1950” (2007) that 1950-2005 excess deaths (avoidable deaths, deaths that should not have happened) totaled 82 million in countries occupied by the US in the post-1945 era (and excluding Japan and Germany).

However we can ask more specifically how many have died in the US wars on Iraq and Afghanistan. The shocking reality is that the real 9-11 atrocity is the 9-11 million avoidable deaths associated with the ongoing Iraq War (1990-2010) and the Afghan War (2001-2010).

Those killed in the Iraq and Afghan wars include (1) those killed violently , (2) those dying avoidably from deprivation and deprivation -exacerbated disease and (3) those dying outside Iraq and Afghanistan as a direct consequence of the war.

(1), Just Foreign Policy estimates 1.4 [million] violent Iraqi deaths (2003-2010) - based on expertly obtained data from UK ORB and Johns Hopkins medical epidemiologists - there were 0.2 million Iraqis killed in the Gulf War; if the Afghan War was half as violent as the Iraq War then violent deaths have totaled 2.2 million (2003-2010 - Subtotal 3.8 million violent deaths).

(2). Using UN Population data one can estimate excess deaths (avoidable non-violent deaths) from deprivation associated with war and occupation, this being 3.0 million for Iraq (1990-2010) and 3.4 million for Afghanistan (2003-2010). Consonant with these estimates are under-5 infant deaths in Iraq (1990-2010) and Afghanistan (2003-2010) that total 2.0 million and 2.4 million, respectively. (Subtotal: 6.4 million non-violent excess deaths).

(3) 0.1 million people die from opiate-drug-related causes each year. The US Alliance restored the Taliban-destroyed Afghan opium industry from 6% of world market share in 2001 to 93% by 2007. Accordingly Afghan War-related world opiate deaths total 0.9 x 8.5 years x 0.1 million per year = 0.8 million. [Subtotal: 0.8 million opiate drug-related deaths due to the US Alliance restoration of the Taliban-destroyed Afghan opium industry].

3.8 million + 6.4 million + 0.8 million = 11 million violent, non-violent and global drug-related deaths due to the US Alliance wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

If Afghan violent deaths were much lower (let us say scores of thousands for the purposes of argument) then there would have been about 9 million violent, non-violent and global drug-related deaths due to the US Alliance wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Accordingly one can estimate that there have 9-11 million avoidable deaths associated with the ongoing Iraq War (1990-2010) and the Afghan War (2001-2010) – the real 9-11 atrocity.

By way of comparison 5-6 million Jews died in the WW2 Jewish Holocaust with 1 in 6 dying from deprivation (see Professor Martin Gilbert, "Jewish Holocaust Atlas"). Denial or minimization of the WW2 Jewish Holocaust attracts 10 years’ imprisonment in Austria and lengthy custodial sentences in some other countries. The core message from the WW2 European Holocaust (30 million Slav, Jewish and Gypsy deaths) is "never again to anyone", a message being grievously violated by the US Alliance, including Germany, Australia and NATO, in the War on Terror devastating Iraq and Afghanistan.

The discovery by University of Copenhagen scientists that all samples tested of the World Trade Center dust contained unexploded nanothermite high explosive points to direct US involvement (and very likely Israeli involvement) in the 9-11 atrocity in which 3,000 people died. We still do not know for sure who did 9-11 (the US alone or the US with Israeli or other surrogates) but we clearly know that the US alliance is responsible for 9-11 million violent and non-violent avoidable deaths associated, so far, with the ongoing Iraq War and the Afghan War.
